Slardar can be played as a tanky dps carry who also has a stun and good single target potential. He generally doesn't carry as hard as other more ideal carries, but if you get an Armlet his dps can with his ultimate can carry him decently into the late game. He is ideal over some other carries because of the fact that he doesn't care much about magic immunity(only thing stopped is his aoe stun), and because one of his skills is a natural bash, saving him an item slot.
